Connection Between the Mind and Body: Introduction

In Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as other non-allopathic medicine it is usually accepted that the mind and body are deeply connected. This can sound like just another meaningless maxim promoting mental health until you really start thinking about some examples of the connect between mind and body.
Careful examination shows that care and kindness shown towards the body can positively affect the mind, and good care of your mind can positively affect your body. And the opposite is true. Abuse of the mind or body will yield negative consequences in the other side.
Why does this matter? Because many people have some part of their mind (a thought pattern or old memory) or their body (a terribly tight muscle, pain, or flickering eyelid) that is chronically problematic. And chances are that after many attempts to solve it head on you've been unsuccessful (I used to stretch my chronically tight hamstrings and hips daily and they never seemed to get looser).
However, with the right knowledge or right practitioner you can unlock these problems. Later on this month we will talk about how neurofeedback training helps both the mind and body.
