Concussion Recovery

Six weeks after having my concussion my symptoms had not abated. I was feeling worse. My memory was poor. My formerly stellar sense of direction was terrible. I was ready to sleep at 9pm nightly. Most importantly, I wasn't able to pay attention or think clearly and it was effecting my work and my relationship with my boss was deteriorating because of it. 20 seconds into being told something I was realizing that I had no idea what the person was saying. English suddenly felt like a second language that I was understanding less and less. Energy levels were terrible. My speech was slow and my eyes were closing when I was trying to say something.

My friend who had suffered several concussions recommended three therapies: craniosacral massage, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and neurofeedback. I decided to rent a machine for a month. After about six or seven sessions I noticed something was happening. After three weeks of daily use I felt more clear than I had before my concussion and I felt like I was in a meditative state throughout the day. After a month I was convinced that neurofeedback needed to be in use by every high school and college football team.

Cycling Accident to Peak Performance

For the last six years I've been the Founder and President of DoubleMap, an Inc.com 100 company, and in 2016 I was fortunate to be named to Inc's 30 under 30 list for tech. In 2016 I was hit head-on by another cyclist and broke my jaw, my shoulder, ribs, and suffered a severe head injury. I was forced to take time off from doing most of the activities that I love most including exercising and working on my business (I also couldn't eat solid foods for 10 weeks as my jaw was wired shut). As my bones slowly healed, I still noticed that the brain injury was still impairing my energy levels and attentiveness in meetings. I was having trouble staying awake, and as I travel weekly for work this is not acceptable. I was also getting headaches from using my laptop. I needed help. I spoke with my neurologist, and he wasn't helpful. I had my assistant start researching alternative methods of concussion recovery - and I had her start with looking into neurofeedback.

I first heard of neurofeedback at the Summit at Sea conference as a means to reach peak performance states. Other tech guys were talking about it in the same breaths as meditation and microdosing. I was skeptical. Frankly, tech guys are full of a lot of BS and there's always a new fad that's going to make you smarter. But getting into my accident forced my hand. My assistant reminded me that Henry who I knew through friends was using  Since starting with training, I'm now sharper than I was before the injury. Can't say enough good things about NF. My recovery wouldn't have been possible without Neurofeedback and specifically working with the team at SF Neurofeedback.

Stress Management

As an employee of a major tech company, I often feel stressed by work. This started to take a toll on my performance and I noticed I wasn't doing as good as I would like to. So I decided to step up and try out Neurofeedback training at the San Francisco Center. Saying it's been a life-changing experience is an understatement. I was a little unsure and even sceptic of the results I expected to have with this training... But it has exceeded all my expectations. I started feeling sharper, more alert, I even began to feel less stressed as I learnt to manage my time and pending tasks better.

I'd say the key to my success has been cutting sugar out of my diet and Neurofeedback training!
