Where to Meditate in San Francisco

meditation

We believe that Neurofeedback therapy works best when it's undertaken together with other treatments that can help improve your life. Building a balanced, healthy routine is an important part of healing your brain. With this in mind, we decided to create a series of weekly posts on our favourite spots in our hometown of San Francisco where you'll find different ways to ‘recalibrate’ your brain waves. This week, meditation!

San Francisco Zen Center
300 Page Street

Besides holding classes and dharma talks, this place is also home to Green Gulch Farm - a working farm -, a Buddhist temple and meditation center in the Marin Headlands. The farm opens to the public on Sundays, when you can partake in zazen instructions, a lecture and a communal lunch.

San Francisco Shambhala Meditation Center
1231 Stevenson Street

If you're new to meditative practice, this is a great place to start. Hosting meditation classes, dharma talks and free workshops, the San Francisco Shambhala Meditation Center is ideal for taking your individual, beginner's practice to the next level.

Baker Beach
1620-1699 Battery Chamberlain Road

If you prefer the proximity to nature to help you quiet down your thoughts, we recommend Baker Beach, which is usually slightly warmer, less crowder and more intimate than the city's more known beaches. Stop by and just enjoy the natural sound healing of the waves crashing by your side.

Japanese Tea Garden
75 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive, Golden Gate Park

We're big fan of Japanese culture and believe that one of the best place to sit and remain in stillness is in the middle of a tranquil Japanese garden. This is one, found inside Golden Gate Park, is a great place to unwind and focus on your meditative practice.
