Concussion Recovery Strategies: Part V, Craniosacral Therapy

craniosacral therapy for concussion recovery

The posts on this blog are based on my personal experience and are not medical advice.

The second pillar in our trinity of concussion recovery is craniosacral therapy. Over and over again I hear stories of leaps of progress from craniosacral therapy. The woman who sold me my first neurofeedback machine got just as excited about craniosacral as she was about neurofeedback (she had also come to neurofeedback from a concussion). My experience with craniosacral therapy involves the practitioner gently manipulating the scalp, jaw, neck, and spine to be in a more optimized spot. Instead of giving you an amateur's account of how the therapy works, I was able to get detailed accounts from three professionals.

The trick, as with any type of bodywork, is to find the right practitioner. I've seen many craniosacral practitioners in the Bay Area, but three of them really stand out. Each comes from a different background and has something unique to offer. Each has written a post on our blog discussing their approach to craniosacral. Click through to see what they say.

  • Dr. Renee Hahn - an acupuncturist and herbalist
  • Dr. Joanna Fassl - a chiropractor who integrates many levels of bodywork
  • Bronwen Williams - whose main focus is craniosacral
